The Erasmus+ KA2 “Pharos” project partners recently gathered in Navan, Ireland, marking an important milestone in our collaborative journey towards enhancing mental health support for migrants and refugees across Europe.
This productive meeting provided an invaluable opportunity for partners from six European countries to collaborate, share insights, and finalize key project components. Our wonderful hosts, Unofficial Media and Training, facilitated an engaging and inspiring atmosphere for meaningful dialogue and concrete outcomes.
Throughout the meeting, we worked on further developing two cornerstone programmes of the Pharos project: the Lay Mental Health Advisor Training Programme and the Up-skilling Programme for Migrants. These initiatives aim to provide migrants with essential skills and culturally sensitive knowledge to become peer advisors, empowering them to support their fellow migrants navigating mental health challenges.
Additionally, partners developed detailed strategies for setting up peer support networks within local communities, enabling migrants and refugees to benefit from sustained, community-driven support. Another significant achievement was the official launch of the PHAROS project website, designed to serve as a central hub for resources, project updates, and materials accessible to educators, stakeholders, and community members.
Beyond work discussions, the team enjoyed an enriching cultural experience at the Brú na Bóinne Visitor Centre, exploring Ireland’s heritage through the remarkable ancient site of Newgrange. This cultural exploration underscored the project’s commitment to promoting mutual understanding and cultural exchange.
