As we step into the new year, we are recharged and ready to make an impact through our ongoing Erasmus+ KA2 “Pharos” project, which is dedicated to enhancing mental health support for migrants and refugees. With our latest online meeting successfully wrapped up, we are looking forward to another productive year of collaboration and meaningful progress.
A productive online meeting to set the course for 2025
This week, the Pharos project partners convened virtually to discuss important next steps. Our key objectives included:
- Finalizing plans for the upcoming transnational project meeting in Navan, Ireland, hosted by our esteemed partner, Unofficial Media and Training Limited.
- Reviewing the meeting agenda and assigning preparatory tasks to ensure a productive gathering.
- Refining templates for desk research and the Lay Mental Health Advisor Curriculum for Migrant Learners.
- Setting clear milestones to keep the project on track and maintain momentum.
About the Pharos project: supporting mental health for migrants
The Pharos project is built around a core initiative: the Lay Mental Health Advisor Programme for Migrant Learners. This programme is designed to empower migrants with the knowledge and skills needed to serve as peer advisors, helping newly arrived individuals navigate their host countries’ mental health landscapes.
Through this initiative, participants will:
- Develop essential skills to offer peer-to-peer support.
- Gain training in culturally sensitive mental health guidance.
- Assist fellow migrants in accessing necessary services and resources.
Mental health challenges are often exacerbated by the stressors of migration, including language barriers, cultural adjustments, and social integration difficulties. By fostering peer-led mental health support, the Pharos project is pioneering an innovative approach to community well-being and resilience.
Looking ahead: next steps and upcoming activities
With our preparations underway for the meeting in Navan, we are excited to further shape and implement the Lay Mental Health Advisor Programme. As we move forward, we remain committed to developing impactful training resources that will make a real difference in the lives of migrant learners across Europe.
